Cheney, Washington
After three days of action the PAC-8 Championship tournament wrapped up with a battle of the tournament’s top seeds at the Eastern Washington University Recreation Center, with an automatic bid to the American Collegiate Hockey Associate West Regional tournament on the line.
The University of Washington Huskies, the tournament’s top seed. set the tempo with a goal from leading scorer Michael Shippee, just two and half minutes after the puck drop. JT Rimoran and Aaron Morris added to the Huskies lead before the Utah Utes were able to earn one back thanks to Luke Ossola’s net finder.
The Utes would strike first in the 2nd thanks to Jack Furlon’s stick and pull within 3-2. However, it would be all Huskies from there on out as Max Arzumanov and Michael Shippee (2) would add the final goals of the weekend as UW would win the game and the conference championship with a 5-2.
Washington secures a spot in the upcoming ACHA West regional in Salt Lake City, UT on February 24-26 hosted by the University of Utah.
